Changing media between waves

How to change your question, answer or message card media between waves

Updated yesterday

When running a brand tracker, you may need to update media assets between waves - for example, refreshing a logo, updating campaign imagery, or replacing a video.

You can now update media assets on existing questions between waves. The underlying question stays the same, historical waves are unaffected, and future waves show the updated asset. Past data is preserved exactly as collected, and question identity remains consistent for trend analysis.

What you can update

You can change media assets across the following question and card types:

  • Media questions - swap video, image, or audio assets

  • Single-choice and multi-choice questions - update images attached to individual answer options

  • Message cards - replace the media displayed on message card questions

Note: Changing media between waves is not currently supported for groups.

How to change media between waves

  1. Open your tracker and click ‘set up new wave’. Media changes cannot be applied to waves that have already launched or are currently in field

  2. Find the question or card whose media you want to update and open the image

  3. Select the Change button option next to the existing asset

  4. Upload your replacement asset - video, image, or audio depending on the question type

  5. Review the on-screen confirmation that media will differ between waves. This difference is reflected in reporting

  6. Save your changes. The updated media applies to this wave and all future waves. Previous waves retain the original asset

What respondents will see

Respondents in future waves will see the most recently updated media asset. Past waves are unaffected - respondents who completed earlier waves saw the media that was live at that time.

How this is shown in Results

Results will indicate where media differed across waves, so trend data can be interpreted with full context.

You are able to check out what media was shown when through the media modal which allows you to drop down both date, and audience so you have certainty about what was shown when.
