Understanding list view and map view

Discover the difference between the map and list views, and how to navigate through cards using the card list.

Updated yesterday

Attest offers two ways to view and build your survey: list view and map view. Each view supports a different stage of the drafting process, and you can switch between them at any time.

This article explains what each view is best used for and how to navigate your survey using the card list.

List view: write and edit your survey

When you open a survey draft, it opens in list view by default.

List view shows your questions and text cards stacked vertically, making it the best place to:

  • Write and edit question text and answer options

  • Add new questions or text cards

  • Make detailed wording changes

This view is designed for focused writing and editing, especially when refining question wording or reviewing longer surveys.

Map view: understand the structure of your survey

Map view gives you a visual overview of your survey layout. Questions and text cards are shown horizontally, with any routing displayed underneath.

Map view is particularly useful for:

  • Seeing the overall flow of your survey

  • Checking how routes and branches work

  • Sense-checking more complex surveys at a glance

To switch to map view, select the Map view icon at the bottom of the survey editor.

While in map view, you can select Edit on any card to jump back to list view and make changes to that question or text card.
