As you draft your survey, Attest helps you spot issues that must be fixed before the survey can go live. Any blocking errors are highlighted in red and include guidance on what needs to be edited. You will not be able to launch a survey that still contains these errors, so you can be confident the survey is structurally ready when you go live.
How to spot errors
For any card that contains an error:
the card number is highlighted in red
hovering over the red card number shows a list of errors in that question or text card
the part of the question that contains the issue is outlined in red, with instructions on how to correct it
These errors typically relate to missing information, incompatible settings, or invalid configurations, and must be resolved before the survey can be launched.
Survey fatigue alerts
The survey editor may flag potential respondent fatigue when a survey is long or complex.
Fatigue alerts are intended to prompt a review of:
overall survey length
repeated or similar question formats
complex routing or logic that may increase effort for respondents
Fatigue alerts do not prevent you from launching the survey. They are advisory and should be considered alongside your research goals.
Reviewing question quality before launch
Beyond fixing blocking errors and reviewing fatigue alerts, it’s important to review question quality before launching your survey.
This includes checking for:
unclear or ambiguous wording
leading or biased phrasing
typos or inconsistencies
answer options that are incomplete or overlapping
Compass can support this review by suggesting clearer or more neutral wording, highlighting potential bias, and spotting inconsistencies.
We also recommend that you always use Preview to go through your survey step by step as a respondent and check wording, flow, routing, display logic, forwarded answers, and piping in context.
Additional review support
If you would like another perspective before launching, your Customer Research Manager can help review question wording, survey structure, and potential sources of bias or respondent fatigue.
This can be particularly useful for more complex surveys or when you want reassurance that the setup aligns with your research goals.
