How it works
Compass Beta is our new conversational AI co-pilot that helps you design surveys, analyse results and uncover insights more efficiently. It works through natural conversation, meaning you can describe what you want to achieve in plain English. Whether you’re drafting questions, refining wording or creating data stories, Compass translates your ideas into ready-to-use research outputs.
You can use Compass throughout your workflow. In the editor, it helps you draft and refine surveys; in Boards, it supports you with analysis, charts and insights. Simply type what you need help with, and Compass will take care of the manual steps so you can focus on the thinking.
If you’re new to prompting, see how to write good prompts for guidance on how to get the best results from Compass.
Using Compass to draft research
In the survey editor, Compass helps you move from an idea to a structured survey in moments. You can describe your goals, paste existing questions, or ask for inspiration. Compass interprets your intent and turns it into a working survey, using best-practice question types and wording.
Once you’ve got a draft, you can ask Compass to improve it by adding new questions, adjusting phrasing, checking for bias or identifying typos. When you’re happy with your draft, you can manually add logic and targeting as needed.
Example prompts:
“Draft a survey exploring how people in the UK decide which streaming platforms to subscribe to, focusing on price and content variety.”
“Review my survey and suggest clearer, less biased wording for Q3 and Q4.”
“Give me five more answer options for this question about social media platforms.”
Note: Compass provides a first draft, not a final version. Always review before launching your survey.
Using Compass to discover insights
When your survey results are ready, Compass helps you turn raw data into clear, actionable stories. In Boards, you can ask it to highlight key findings, answers specific questions about your data or create specific charts to help you visualise your findings.
By removing the manual steps of setup and analysis, Compass helps you go from data to narrative quickly, giving you more time to explore deeper questions and share meaningful insights with your stakeholders.
Example prompts:
“Create a board that highlights the main differences between the UK and US when it comes to buying food.”
“which age group is most likely to listen to podcasts weekly?”
“Write an executive summary of these charts in a clear and concise tone for presentation slides.”
Note: Compass is only available on boards where you can combine multiple visualisations with added narrative. Create a board first to get started.
What Compass can’t help with yet
Compass is still evolving, and a few capabilities are planned for 2026 but not available today. These include using content from past surveys or question libraries to personalise content, answering data questions without building charts, deeper open text analysis, creating translated surveys, and adding survey logic such as forward answers or display logic.
Some areas fall outside Compass’s scope. It doesn’t run advanced statistical analysis, act as product support guide, optimise survey cost or feasibility, manages or schedules surveys. It also can’t process or reference any external data.
Compass focuses on the places AI adds the most value. It helps you draft surveys, interpret results and shape clear insight stories, while leaving complex calculations and operational tasks to the platform itself.
Beta status and feedback
Compass is currently in beta, which means we’re still improving its accuracy and capabilities. Some workflows are not yet supported, and results may vary depending on your task. Also keep in mind that access to beta features may also change as we review pricing plans.
We welcome your feedback - please share it with your Customer Research Manager or reach out to use via in-platform chat.

Frequently asked questions
Can Compass get things wrong?
Can Compass get things wrong?
Compass goes through many automated and manual tests before updates are released, but it is still an AI system and can occasionally slip up. At times it may suggest an action it cannot complete or say it has done something when it has not.
It is very good at helping you shape questions, draft surveys and write clear findings, though some actions remain better done directly in the platform.
If you want to explore what the Attest platform can do more broadly, our help articles offer step-by-step advice on creating surveys and analysing results.
Compass is in beta and continues to improve. If you notice anything off or have feedback, please talk to your customer research manager or speak to us via in-platform chat.

Compass uses advanced language models from reputable providers, chosen for reliability, safety and performance. At present, Compass primarily uses Google Gemini, but this may change as we continue to enhance the feature.
Which languages are supported?
Which languages are supported?
Compass replies in UK English by default. You can ask it to create surveys or carry out actions in other languages, such as Spanish or French. When analysing your results, it will respect the language of your survey when writing elements like chart titles.
Language quality varies based on Gemini’s coverage. It is strongest for English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.
