Getting Started with the Attest Platform

A high-level introduction to running research, analysing results and finding insights with Attest

Updated this week

Attest helps you run research quickly and confidently, from shaping the right questions to turning results into clear insights. Whether you are running a one-off survey or building an ongoing research programme, the platform is designed to guide you through each stage.

This article gives a high-level walkthrough of how Attest works, so you know where to start and how the different parts fit together.

Start with Compass

If you are new to Attest or unsure where to begin, Compass is a great way to get started.

Compass is Attest’s research co-pilot. You can describe what you are trying to achieve in plain English and Compass will help you choose the right research approach, draft survey questions and suggest ways to analyse your results.

You can use Compass throughout your workflow:

  • When planning research, to sense-check your approach

  • In the survey editor, to draft and refine questions

  • In Boards, to surface insights and build clear data stories

Compass helps remove the manual setup steps, so you can focus on the thinking behind your research.

Choose the right research approach

Attest supports a range of research approaches, so you can match your method to what you are trying to learn.

You can use Attest to:

These approaches can be run as one-off studies or repeated over time. Templates and guidance are available to help you get started, and Compass can suggest the right approach based on your goal.

Create and draft your survey

Once you have chosen your research approach, you can create a new survey and start drafting. The survey editor helps you structure your study clearly, apply logic where needed, and preview the respondent experience before launch.

You can draft from scratch, start from a template, or use Compass to generate and refine your survey content.

Choose who to survey

Once your survey is drafted, you decide who should take part.

You can send surveys to:

Audience targeting, quotas and sample size are set in the Audience stage. For own audience research, you can also upload customer attributes to enrich analysis later.

Launch and collect responses

When you are ready, review your setup and launch your survey immediately or schedule it for later. As responses come in, you can monitor progress from the dashboard.

Depending on your audience and research type, surveys may complete within hours or over several days.

Explore and analyse your results

Once a survey closes, results appear in the results dashboard. Here you can see how respondents answered each question, switch between views and make light visual changes to help spot patterns.

You can split and filter results to compare different groups, such as demographics, audiences or waves, and use segments for more specific analysis. Statistical significance helps highlight where differences are meaningful.

For open text and video responses, AI-powered tools help you identify themes and summarise feedback more efficiently.

Build Boards to tell your data story

Boards allow you to bring analysis together into a clear, shareable story. You can add charts and crosstabs from the results dashboard, include written commentary, and organise insights for different stakeholders.

Compass works alongside Boards to help highlight key findings, answer questions about your data and draft summaries.

Share, export and act on insights

Insights can be shared directly through Boards or exported in formats such as Excel, CSV or PowerPoint for use outside Attest.

Get support from the research team

If you need help at any point, Attest’s in-house Customer Research Team is available or you can use the in-platform live chat. They can help you choose the right method, review your survey, and sense-check your analysis. The research team helps ensure you get the most value from your research and feel confident in the decisions you make.
