Attest allows you to send surveys to dozens of countries around the world and to run the same survey in multiple languages. You can either upload your own translations or use Attest’s translation partner to translate your survey for you.
Sending translated surveys involves two related steps: selecting the countries you want to target and adding one or more languages to your survey.
Add your countries and languages
In the Audience tab, select Attest panels and add audiences. Use the dropdowns to choose:
the country you want to target
the language you want to send the survey in
You can add multiple country and language combinations to the same survey.
Local nuances in the same language
Attest supports local variations of the same language, such as British English and American English. By enabling locale-specific versions, you can account for differences in spelling, terminology, or currency, while keeping the overall survey structure consistent across markets
Set your draft language
Your draft language is automatically set to the first country and language you add.
If you drafted your survey in a different language and want to view results in that language, you can change the draft language using the dropdown. The draft language controls how results are displayed in analysis.
Download and upload the translation file
When you add a language that is different from the draft language, a Translation needed label appears.
Select Add translation to download an .xlsx translation file. This file includes:
one column for the draft language
one column for each translated language
Enter the translated text into the relevant columns. The content in the translated columns becomes the experience for respondents in those markets.
Upload the completed file back into Attest. The platform will automatically flag any missing fields or errors before the survey can be launched.
Review your survey in each language
Use Preview to switch between languages and review how the survey will appear to respondents in each market.
Previewing allows you to check that:
translations are displayed correctly
wording matches local language variations
the survey structure is consistent across languages
Using Attest’s translation partner
If you prefer not to manage translations yourself, Attest offers a paid translation service through a trusted partner. This service provides bespoke survey translations on a per-question basis. For more details, see Using Attest’s translation partner or contact the Customer Research team via in-platform chat.
Compass and translated surveys
Compass cannot yet create or edit translation files, as translations are managed outside the platform. However, you can use Compass to help draft survey questions in languages other than English before uploading them as part of your translation workflow.
